Daniel Motola, MD, PhD, looks forward to helping patients at Gotham Gastroenterology’s Midtown East and Financial District locations in Manhattan, New York City. He is a board-certified gastroenterologist, transplant hepatologist, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center. He is recognized by his patients as a knowledgeable, professional, compassionate, and dedicated physician.
Dr. Motola received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Neuroscience from Brandeis University where he graduated magna cum laude. He earned medical and fellowship training from UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, The Mt. Sinai Hospital of New York, and Harvard University-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Motola is also distinguished by having earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the prestigious graduate school of UTSW Medical Center, which is home to six Nobel laureates. His doctoral work has led to ground-breaking discoveries in the fight against intestinal parasites.
At Gotham Gastroenterology he offers expertise in endoscopy, colonoscopy, colon cancer screening, the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, chronic liver disease, disorders of the bile ducts and gallbladder, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE) among many others.
Dr. Motola strives to provide the most advanced and comprehensive medical care possible. Throughout his career, he has authored numerous clinical and scientific articles and book chapters. He keeps abreast of the latest clinical advances by literature review and maintaining active memberships in the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterology Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease.
